For most of these essays, their inception lies with students’ involvement in two study topics included within the master’s programme in Literature, Film and Cultural Representations offered by the Faculty of Letters of “Dunărea de Jos” University of Galați, namely “Myth, Literature and Filmic Rewritings” and “The Gothic. From Novel to Film,” while a few others bear witness to students’ dissertation or individual research interests in related subjects, which similarly explore the dynamic traffic between written word and visual representation under headings such as: “Literary Conventions and Filmic Architectures”, “Literary / Filmic Text and Cultural Discourse”, or “Art Forms. Literary and Filmic Reworkings.” In addition, the idea of the volume as a whole arouse out of the intention to provide a venue for integrating the fresher insights brought by such young contributions to the above mentioned fields with the more scholarly research on the productive encounter of literature and film undertaken by the members of the English Department at the Faculty of Letters from Galați.
