Air and Water. Components of the Environment

On the United Nation Conference for Environment and Development held in Rio de Janeiro, during 21 Agenda Summit, was proposed the adoption of a day dedicated to water resources of the Earth. Next year the United Nation General Assembly officially declared March 22 as World Water Day.

On this occasion, countries around the world are promoting the implementation of United Nation recommendations on concrete activities, regarding water resources management. Since then, every year different organizations, groups, institutions, schools etc. are celebrating this day dedicated to one of the most vital resources of our planet.

The main objective of marking this day is to raise community awareness, for the potential related to inter-country cooperation and the responses to the challenges facing water resources management, given by the increasing demand for access to water and water related services.
