English for Dentistry: Language Skills for Students and Professionals

The book provides an integrated skills approach to medical English by offering listening, reading, use of English, speaking and writing activities on various dental topics, such as the history of dentistry, dental caries, bad breath, preventive dentistry, dental anxiety, bad habits affecting oral health, various dental conditions and treatments, diseases and conditions linked to oral health, and dental case reports. Authentic online resources were adapted to create different task types and stimulate the acquisition of medical and dental terminology. The tasks include listening for gist, listening for specific information, table completion, note taking, multiple choice, true-false-not given, multiple matching, paragraph matching, sentence completion, choosing headings, classifying, open cloze, word formation, note completion, writing tasks for social media communication, and speaking activities, like dentist-patient role-plays, discussions, or case presentations. The tasks were designed at B2 and C1 levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
